Aviation Safety
Airline employees who wish to report a safety violation to
the FAA are protected from discrimination by their employer
under the FAA Whistleblower Protection Program. Discrimination
can come in several forms, including reprisal, retaliation,
intimidation, reprimand, and discharge.
Whistleblower Protection
An airline employer cannot discriminate against or discharge
an employee for any of the following reasons:
- Providing information to the government or an employer
regarding a violation of FAA safety standards or regulations
- Causing information to be provided to the government or
an employer regarding a violation of FAA safety standards
or regulations
- Considering providing information to the government or
an employer regarding a violation of FAA safety standards
or regulations
- Filing a proceeding regarding a violation of FAA safety
standards or regulations
- Causing a proceeding to be filed regarding a violation
of FAA safety standards or regulations
- Considering filing a proceeding regarding a violation
of FAA safety standards or regulations
- Testifying in a proceeding regarding a violation of FAA
safety standards or regulations
- Assisting in a proceeding regarding a violation of FAA
safety standards or regulations
If an employee is discriminated against or discharged for
any of the above actions, they should file a report with the
nearest FAA
